Kentucky
Be 18 years of age
Have attained a high school diploma or GED
Complete FBI criminal background check
Complete all real estate pre-license courses prior to taking the real estate exam
Must apply within 60 days of passing exam
Applicant for the Sales Associate License must also have completed either 6 credit hours in real estate courses from an accredited college or 96 classroom hours in real estate classes from an approved proprietary school; and take and pass the Kentucky Sales Associate exam.
Licensing Information
FBI Background Report
Individuals planning to apply for a Kentucky real estate license must request a copy of their identification record (FBI Background report) prior to taking the licensure examination, pursuant to 201 KAR 11:430. Failure to do so will void the exam.
Kentucky State Police
Cost: $51.25
The previous process of submitting cards to Kentucky State Police will no longer be available beginning on December 8th, and all applicants will need to register via the UEnroll website utilizing the Service Codes previously provided.
Individuals must schedule an appointment to be fingerprinted through the Kentucky State Police: Uenroll.identogo.com

Report Information
All FBI reports expire ninety (90) days after the report date of issuance.
HSREA recommends that students wait to make their fingerprinting appointment until after completing the
Kentucky Prelicense program. This will ensure that KREC receives a new report.
The KREC cannot issue a license without a valid FBI report.
You have sixty (60) days to apply for your license after successfully passing the exam.

Exam Information
"Kentucky state laws stipulate that a person may not act as a real estate sales associate or broker without first obtaining a license issued by the Kentucky Real Estate Commission. To be licensed, you must pass an examination to confirm that you have attained at least a minimum level of knowledge regarding the principles, practices, statutes, and regulations relating to real estate."
